Grace Virginia Parmley Berg
1917 ~ 2005

Our sweet and loving wife and mother had a joyous reunion with her family and friends on April 24 at the age of 88 when she returned to her Father in Heaven. Grace was born on February 22, 1917 to William V. Parmley and Alice Florence Larson in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her father died when she was just three years old. Her mother later married Whitmer (Whit) Andrew Rosquist, who was a very kind and loving step-father.

She married her sweetheart and eternal companion, Clifford Sanders Berg, in the Salt Lake Temple on February 20, 1939. They are the parents of eight children - four daughters and four sons. Her family was always her first priority. She made sure they were all well taken care of. Grace had a wonderful sense of humor and was very generous to others. She was a hard worker and taught her children the value of hard work. She was very meticulous and always insisted on a clean and orderly home. The phrase "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" fit her perfectly. She was known for her cooking and candy making abilities. There are many who have fond memories of her delicious meals. She cherished her family and spent many, many hours crocheting afghans for each child, their spouses, her grandchildren and close friends.

Her life was one of service and she loved doing it! Serving others brought her great joy and satisfaction. She was especially fond of serving the elderly. Grace loved her grandchildren and enjoyed having them around her. She spent a lot of time babysitting. In her youth, Grace loved to play tennis and enjoyed dancing. Grace is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in numerous stake and ward callings.

She was a beautician for many years. She also managed Paul's Par 3, a golf course in Hunter, Utah, for a number of years. Later, she and her husband owned and operated the Burger Bandit Drive-In in Kearns, Utah.

Grace is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, her children Alice Beck; Robert L. (LeVon) Berg, Monroe, WA; Gerald (Maggie) Berg; Randy (Judy) Berg; Kathy (Jack) Grotepas; Arnie (Bobbie) Berg; Lynnette(John) Hiskey; Kris (Bob) Kvenvold; 29 grandchildren, 28 great-grand-children; brothers Robert (Bob) Parmley, LaMar Rosquist and sister Beth Paschall.

The family wishes to thank Hospice for their tender and loving care during the last several months. Jan, Wanda and Sylvia brought Grace and her family much peace and happiness. They were definitely Grace's angels and she loved each one of them.

Dear Brothers and Sisters and Dad, I was checking this site and thought I would let you know that my school has made a contribution in Mom's name to the Snohomish Education Foundation Scholarship grant. They do this instead of sending flowers. This means that next year that money will go to a graduating senior or to an educational program in her name along with money donated in behalf of other teacher's deceased parents and relatives.

Love, Bob

Dear Lynnette, Arnie, Kathy, Kris, Randy, Jerry, Alice, and Bob,

I was so saddened to learn of your dear mother's passing. She brought many smiles to our faces over the years with her keen sense of humor and funny remarks. We will forever remember the good times spent at the Burger Bandit. She always made me feel like part of the family, and I appreciated that. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

With love,

Dearest Kathy and family,
My heart and prayers go out to you and your family at this sorrowful time in your life. The wonderful memories you shared with your lovely mother will be with you until you can meet again. Even though you are separated for now, just remember, "Who is it that love me and will love me forever with an affection which no chance, no misery, no crime of mine can do away? My dear mother." - Thomas Carlyle
