Beverly Shepherd Daw
1927 - 2008
Beverly Shepherd Daw 1927 ~ 2008 We are truly saddened by the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on December 27, 2008 due to causes related age.We are grateful that she taught us of Heavenly Father's plan because this knowledge brings such great comfort and peace to us at this time of temporary separation from her. She lived and taught the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was a woman of great compassion, integrity, honor and respect. We will miss her and the love she so freely gave to each member of her family. She was born March 5, 1927 to William Leroy Shepherd and Myrtle Irene Berg Shepherd. They had six children, four daughters and two sons. She grew up in Murray, Utah attending Liberty Elementary, Murray Junior High and graduated from Murray High. Her father passed away when she was 15 years old and her mother remarried adding a sister and four brothers to her family. She married J. Weston Daw on May 7, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had six children; one daughter, four sons and a foster son. She was a faithful member of the church serving in many stake and ward auxiliary positions. She served two missions with her husband as his missionary companion when he served as President of the Columbia, South Carolina mission and as President of the Philippines, Manila Missionary Training Center. During the 16 years her husband served as the bishop of the South Cottonwood Ward she was equally yoked in his service and was truly a Bishop's wife in every respect providing the love, support and encouragement he needed along the way. She was a wonderful mother. She taught her children to pray, to exercise faith, a love the Book of Mormon, a desire to serve others, the importance of supporting priesthood leaders and the blessings and benefits of work, providing lengthy chore lists that had to be completed before leaving the house to play. She is survived by her five children; Karen Kammerath and her husband Steve, Ronald and his wife Tracey, Ryan and his wife Shelly, Terry and his wife Darcy, Gordon and his wife Nanete, her daughter-in-law Leisa Brown, 28 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Janice Hilton and Joyce Downward and brothers Kenneth and Shirl Shepherd. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Weston, her foster son, Ervin T. Brown, her sisters Luana Shepherd and Marilyn Henline, and her brothers Donald, Brent, Obie and Clinton Anderson. The family and others will always remember her for her great love and devotion to her husband, the sacrifices she made on behalf of family, her faith in the Savior, her unwavering testimony of the Gospel, her childlike prayers, along with her example of service to everyone she knew and associated with but most of all for her example of what it meant to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ in everything she not only said but did. The family expresses gratitude to her friends (staff) at Sunrise for the care they lovingly provided to her during the past year of her life as well as the nurses and aides at CareSource. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 5, 2009 in the South Cottonwood Ward Chapel, 5600 South Vine Street Murray, Utah, at 12 noon. Friends may call at the Chapel Sunday, January 4th from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the Chapel from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday prior to the service. Burial in the Murray City Cemetery. The family suggests that contributions be made to the Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in lieu of flowers. Condolences may be shared online at www.Jenkins-Soffe.com
